The Pantone Colour of the Year for 2013 was revealed late last week and it is emerald! As soon as I heard the announcement I started putting together some moodboards, deciding it was a perfect theme for Two-Ten.
Pantone describes the emerald shade (17-5641) as being 'Lively. Radiant. Lush… A colour of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well-being, balance and harmony." To arrive at their selection, Pantone looks for influences from all around the globe including films, art, popular travel destinations and even upcoming sporting events that capture worldwide attention.
Although emerald is not a colour I would choose first off when it comes to fashion or interiors, I love its visual impact. Sophisticated and luxurious, it instantly makes me think of precious gemstones. Interestingly, we see green more than any other colour in the spectrum due to its abundance in nature. In fact, that's where I love to see green in the home, by way of indoor plants. I think green can look stunning with black and white, so I've gone with this colour palette in the first moodboard. For the second, I've chosen my other favourite combination, emerald and gold.

When it comes to the picks, I usually have trouble narrowing it down to just ten, but today the challenge was finding enough! If money were no object, I would choose the emerald earrings in the first moodboard and that incredible dress that Kate Bosworth is wearing in the second! I did however manage to find some great ideas for the home and wardrobe, in block colour, or mixed with others, like the Missoni tunic and beach towel. I'm sure we're going to be seeing a lot more of this gorgeous hue over the next twelve months.
