BoConcept | Urban Danish Design

BoConcept has come a long way since it opened its first Brand Store in Paris in 1993. There are now Brand Stores, Inspiration Stores and Studios in more than 50 countries around the world making it 'Denmark's most global retail furniture chain'.

BoConcept in Auckland is located in the BLOC retail space in Normanby Rd. For a list of the other superb retailers at BLOC see my previous post hereThere is free, undercover parking (entrance on Enfield St) and while you are there I definitely recommend you visit BoCafe, upstairs. There is also a BoConcept in Wellington in Thorndon Quay.

The recently launched 'Ottawa Collection' has been designed by Karim Rashid, who is based in New York with a second office in Amsterdam. With 3000 designs in production throughout more than 35 countries and over 300 awards to date, it is no wonder Karim has been referred to as 'one of the most prolific designers of this generation'.

The collection of affordable dining room pieces pays tribute to Karim's early career when he first studied in Ottawa, Canada and includes everything from tables and chairs to cups and lamps. Big on functionality, Karim clearly embraces contemporary aesthetics ideally suited to urban living. To me, the design is fun with a slightly whimsical style.

The nature inspired leaf-shaped chairs above are available in different coloured fabrics and leathers. How cool is that Fingerprint rug? There are many other ranges in store right now. Whenever I visit BoConcept I tend to gravitate towards the accessories and art. Have a look at some of their latest designs below and you'll see why!
