Best Design Awards | Part Four

For those of you who've been following this series, welcome back. It's a good line up this week, and I've even thrown in an extra finalist for good measure! If you're just joining in, pop over here to see what you've missed so far.

Alt Group. Fisher & Paykel - The Social Kitchen 2012 (New Zealand's Best Graphic Design - Visual Communication)
A finalist in a total of four Graphic Design categories, The Fisher & Paykel Social Kitchen is a 'pop-up' installation where food meets design. A clever, interactive concept in its second year running, Alt Group worked with product designers of Fisher & Paykel to create 'out of this world appliances where guests could hunt, gather, cook, slurp and eat.'

Xsite Architects Ltd. Ruby Boutique, Newmarket (New Zealand's Best Spacial Design - Retail Environments)
With its distressed brick exterior and simple, modern interior, Ruby Boutique's spacial design is effortlessly cool, much like the fashion brand.

ODD. ODD Guitars (New Zealand's Best Product Design - Consumer)
When he's not designing guitars, Olaf Diegal is a professor of mechtronics at Massey University in Auckland. These amazing guitars are a result of 3D printing technologies, enabling consumers to customise their own one of a kind design.

Mal Corboy Design Ltd. Karaka Kitchen (New Zealand's Best Spacial Design - Rooms)
Created for NZ celebrity chef Simon Gault, you would expect the spacial design to be impressive, and it is. The scullery, pictured above, is a standout feature. Reminiscent of an Italian deli, it's like a kitchen within a kitchen.

DDMMYY. Stolen Rum (New Zealand's Best Graphic Design - Identity Development | Small Scale)
Contemporary branding with a rock 'n' roll edge, while paying homage to the great rums of history, Stolen Rum is also a finalist in this year's packaging category.

Alt Group. Auckland University Press Group (New Zealand's Best Graphic Design - Identity Development | Small Scale)
This awesome new logo and identity was launched in April this year.

So how do you think this week's picks rate amongst the best of 'The Best'?
